Why Donate to MWP?
Muslim Women Professionals has always had one goal since the beginning: To be the trusted resource Muslim women can rely on to advance in their careers and enrich their personal lives.
Once we became a 501(c) in August, we could finally take one of the most crucial steps to making this a reality: being able to coalesce funds through donations. Like most growing nonprofit organizations, we build our most foundational changemaking projects through donor support. It’s a necessary step but one we don’t take lightly. We want to ensure you support us with full confidence and excitement for what’s to come. That’s why we want to let you know exactly where your donations will go when you choose to support MWP. Read on to learn where our donations will be going to first and how you can get involved right now.
Support Muslim women on their educational journeys financially to ensure that money is not a hindrance for pursuing an education
Aspiring Muslim women professionals who want to pursue higher education should not be limited due to financial duress or insecurity. Donations made to MWP will be pooled toward creating scholarships for Muslim women pursuing higher education. Once we reach our fund target goal, we will send out updates on when our first scholarship will be open. For updates on this and other upcoming projects, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter.
2. Expand our reach as a nonprofit across the U.S. to reach new communities who can benefit from our resources
As we hope to serve MWPs from all over the country, with different backgrounds and experiences, we’re focused on expanding our reach to as many MWPs as possible. Donations made to MWP will be dedicated toward building partnerships with local community organizations so that our resources can reach those who need them most.
3. Launch larger scale networking events to connect more Muslim women
Alhamdullilah, our networking events have been a beacon for the transformative conversations, career opportunities, and bonding between MWPs in our community. Donations to MWP will be utilized to launch even larger scale networking events to once again serve even more Muslim women around the U.S. Better locations, better venues, and better partnerships are what we’re striving towards so we can make our events even more beneficial to you in the future, iA.
4. Create more tailored resources for MWPs across different industries
MWP strives to be a one-stop for MWPs from various industries. After all, no two MWPs’ experiences are the same. Some may just need some aid in salary negotiation while others may require assistance in spiritual and cultural inclusivity in their workplace. . Donations to MWP will go toward research and execution of more resources that are truly tailored to a wider range of industries and to experiences Muslim women in the workforce uniquely face.
5. Work with businesses bringing awareness to the MWP identity
We want to give Muslim women-owned businesses the exposure they deserve. Muslim women business owners are at the forefront of rewriting the narrative around Muslim women — simply from pursuing their passions. Authors, chefs, party planners, startup CEOs, we do it all and we excel in it all. Donations to MWP will be focused on supporting MWP businesses and spotlighting them in our own initiatives as well.
6. Help the next generation of MWPs build solid foundations to navigate their careers
We started MWP because we knew what our colleges and workplaces lacked in supporting us. Much of the well-intentioned advice didn’t account for how we’re perceived, paid, and excluded from opportunities. Donations to MWP will be dedicated to helping the next generation of MWPs build the foundations they need to succeed. We want to make sure Muslim women find the scholarships they need, the debt relief they need, networking advice they need as a fresh grad, or the steps to advocating for themselves in the workplace.
Donations made to MWP will go toward finding the most efficient routes to getting these resources into the hands of the next generation of MWPs, so they do not need to struggle like many of us have.
